Purpose for 1 John Letter

I am very excited to be beginning the letter of 1 John on Sunday's.  This has got to be one of the most important letters written to the churches according to J Vernon Magee.  John will simply state the difference between Christianity vs religion is.  I have always had a problem comprehending what I read however John spells out his purpose for his letter.  I hope you take this journey with me and go deeper in the word as the Holy Spirit leads you.
Here is my challenge to all you who have chosen to read these daily devo's.  I want you to find the FOUR reasons clearly spelled out in this letter of why John wrote this. Then comment below after you have found them.  I will do a follow up later.  Here is a hint, John will say, "I have written this..."  If you do this, you will be one step ahead of the study comes Sunday.  You can use Google if you like but I recommend old school reading.  Its just 5 chapters.  May God richly bless you as you study this letter.

That you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our fellowship is with the father and with his son Jesus Christ.

n

nAnd these things we write to you that your joy may be full

n

nMy little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin

n

nThese things I have written to you who believe in the name of the son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the son of God

Good job Ron. The fouth one is 1 John 2:26 be not deceived. In these four, really unlock this massively packed letter.

I realize I'm a day late, but here it is before I read today's devotional.?. John's personal witness to include the reader in fellowship, as he has fellowship with Father and Son.

n

nSo that our joy may be complete (and brought John great joy, I'm sure).

n

nSo that we won't sin, but if we do sin we have an Advocate with the Father through the righteous Jesus, by which we were promised eternal life. Woohoo ?

n

nTo warn about those who try to deceive the believer.

n

nJohn packs a whole lot in a little space.

Very good. One more key point is to bring assurance of eternal life to the believer (5:13).
