What Makes God Angry?
John 2:14 And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has eaten Me up.
What truly makes God angry? Often, men attribute Him being angry when He is loving and merciful yet say He is loving when God is really angry. We have Him so wrong so often. We see only a few times in the scriptures Jesus got angry. First, at those who cause a little one (new believer as well) to stumble and here those who made coming to sacrifice and worship God a burden by charging ungodly prices. In other words, they kept out folks from coming to worship God.
Jesus is zealous for His Fathers house and so should we. I have had many battles over the years to keep Gods word and worship central and freely attainable to the masses. The flesh, that doesnt see God, wants to get something our of our sacrifice and profit but coming to God will always have a cost, not just financial. In fact, the greatest lesson we can acquire is receiving from God what He freely has given us. Its not what we can offer Him or do for Him. We never take an offering but will receive one from a willing joyful heart unto God. If you never give to God, He still gives to you! I just give to Him now because I want to and everything I have came from Him.
Is there any tables in your heart that Jesus needs to overturn today?
