Surreal Silence
Revelation 8:1 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
The heavenly scene is never silent. In fact, it is described as a multitude of saints and angelic beings worship the LORD forever and ever. I don't think I have ever pictured a moment of complete silence in heaven. This verse tells us otherwise. There will be a moment when all noise stops, all eyes are upon the Lamb of God, and the breaking of the 7th seal will be so awesome that none can say a word! I challenge you to try to stay silent for even 10 minutes when there are things going on around you. The temptation to say something or fill the silence is great. I find it one of the hardest disciplines in my Christian walk to just simple sit before the LORD and hear Him speak. Empty of my agendas. Void of any counsel I could give the LORD. To not say a word and wait for Him to minister to me? It takes a very mature Christian to be Still and know that He is God.
