The LORD Lifts Up My Head

Psalm 3:3 But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head.

Hallelujah!  This means everything to me.  The world, flesh, & satan are working against me all the time.  Yet, if God is for me, who then can be against me ultimately?  Greater is He who is in me than he who is in this world.  I understand that I am in a fight against these three foes.  However, its easy to forget who has initiated this great grace and love for us.  I listen to condemnation after I mess up and then prone to believe a lie.  That God doesn't want me anymore, as if He is shocked by my lack of faithfulness.  But God is the only one who lifts my head.  He reminds me that He loves me whether at my best or worst.  Truly, His great grace changes everything!  My LORD lifts my head that hangs down by default.  He encourages me to look up, not back!  What does this verse mean to you?  It means everything and is the difference between relationship and religion.

The battle I face in this life, too often I face it alone. My head is down only to see the ground. What good is that for me? Until I look upward. Then I know I am not alone. My Lord is with me.

This verse I have clung to for decades. This word from the Word has kept me from dwelling in the pit of despair. He has really given me beauty for ashes. He truly is my glory and the lifter of my head. Gratitude and praises forever to the One who loves me most.
