Varying degrees of Judgment

Matthew 10:14 And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!

There is a heavy consequence for not receiving the gospel of Jesus Christ!  Not that God is so mean, He calls down judgment upon those who don't listen to Him, but His hands of protection is restrained from doing what He wants to do for our safety due to honoring mans choices!  God is never limited of Himself yet He will honor mans choices to receive or reject Him.  Its the enemy that seeks to devour life!  The disciples words would actually be Christs words.  Don't try to further beg those whom are already resistant to the Holy Spirit.  Do we really think we can do a job of opening blind eyes better than the Spirit?  We don't know who is ready until they give their response.  Their acceptance or rejection will tell us everything we need to know.  I also see here, there are varying degrees of judgment.  Sodom & Gomorrah was exceedingly sinful yet Jesus says their judgment will be more tolerable than those who reject the Spirits leading to Jesus now!  God, you have my attention for sure!  We have, thru Jesus, a more clear picture of who God is and what He requires!  To Whom more is given, more is required of.  These cities wont get off the hook but Jesus states that those rejecting the gospel message will have it worse, what ever that looks like, I wouldnt want to find out.  Thank You LORD that You opened these blind eyes to You.  That You give me humility to acknowledge who You are and why You came.  As a believer in the Risen LORD, I will stand before the reward seat (bema) of Christ.

After a recent conversation about salvation and our rewards in heaven and reading today's devo, it made me think.

nMy salvation is guaranteed by the grace of God. My "rewards" in heaven are based on the works in this life I do for His glory. Not for mine. The works I do are to lift up non-believers or believers that have walked away. If I am a godly man, I don't need lifted up. So my works are not for my sake. My works are for others. The way I see it is my salvation IS my reward. When I see Jesus face to face, what more could I need.

Amen. We have been created by God for good works. We actually glorify God through our obedience to God. If I didnt have any works, I would assume I wouldnt have any faith either. Trust me, you will want to have those crowns the LORD gives so you can cast it down before the Lamb in heaven in worship around the throne. Salvation is our great reward.
