Jesus is Our Passover

John 2:13 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

For Jesus, not only did He participate in Passover like millions have and did, but it meant something a little more personal to Him.  Passover was a memorial of what God did for Israel by Passing Over them who believed His word and partook of the lamb.  Who applied the blood of the lamb to their door.  Who consumed the lamb without defects.
Jesus would at this point know that Passover would also become a celebration.  As He is the Passover Lamb of God.  That those who apply His blood to our hearts, will have eternal life and death is no more.  As we get to know Jesus, we find Him perfect, without sin, but became and took on the sin of the world for us!  We look back in celebration of the Lamb of God who took away our sin.  There are practices Christians do routinely in their faith they often don't know what they are doing really, but that they should do it.  I knew a devout catholic man who didn't understand why he could not eat meats during lent, a catholic observance.  Some don't even know what Resurrection Sunday really means to them.  Jesus knew exactly what Passover was to be and what it was pointing to ultimately.  Jesus is our Passover and Jesus was crucified on Passover!  He perfectly fulfilled all the requirements of Passover.  Also, today is the 14th.  Passover was held on the 14th of the 1st month.
