Putting Pressure upon the LORD

John 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was that Mary who anointed the Lord with fragrant oil and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.”

Our trials have a way up unsettling us.  We tend to only see the negative instead of stopping to ask God, "what are You doing through this?"  Jesus definitely loved this family greatly but His regard for them would be put on trial soon.  The obvious is Lazarus is sick but fading down hill fast.  As long as Jesus intervenes now, all will be good!  But is this the case?  Is Jesus regulated by our understanding or lack thereof?  We don't see what we cant see before us.  Mary will lay it on thick to Jesus, Lord, the one you love is sick.  Come heal him now!
I relate to her here.  Yet I also learn a very important lesson from her.  Am I to command Jesus to do anything for me?  How can I think that I am in a place to direct Jesus on the course of action that is best? Simply put, I put myself in the place of God or worse yet, I put myself above God when I put Him in my restraints and time frames.  Stay tuned for the rest of the story.

nHow I want to see all my pain, wickedness, and fears when I pray to God, through this saying.

n I am the one Jesus loves, and that I am sick. I need His help. Really enjoy these devotionals!!

Wonderful Tom. Gods word is so good about speaking to all of us even though we all are in different spots of life at any given time. His word transcends time, culture, and nationality. Keep approaching Gods word with an open heart and He will fill it.
