A Life to Give Glory to God

John 11:4 When Jesus heard that, He said, “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

How many times have you or someone else heard a promise of God like this and suddenly what seems like the opposite then takes place.  I can only take away from this, since we have the rest of story, that Jesus knew He would raise.  Jesus' specific words were, his sickness was not unto death, but we know he then dies.  Was Jesus wrong?  Well, no because Jesus would refer to Lazarus as just sleeping.  Just taking a rest because when the Resurrection and the Life would call out his name, nothing could keep him in the grave.  In fact, many say that if Jesus didn't call out him by name, all the graves would rise!  That is power!  Ultimately, the path Lazarus was on was a path to bring God glory  and my did it ever!  What ever God promises in your life, even whatever He allows to happen in your life, that it is for His glory?  I wouldn't want to die in order for that to happen but if my death brings God glory, I'm good with that.  I think about our brother Charlie Kirk.  Do you think his life brought God glory even to this day?

When my father laid dying and I sat by his bed, a flood of memories rushed through my mind. Of so many things we had done together in the mountains of Montana and in the Pacific Northwest. Then I realized I could do nothing for him, to help him. I did not know based on his life that he would go to heaven. But then I remembered when he ask Jesus in his heart and I had a rush of God's mercies entered my mind. I knew only God can raise the dead and give eternal life. The dirt, the coffin seemed like such a final lonely place. But I believe in the resurrection and the life and He loves my dad and He loves me.

Amen. Men over complicate Gods Salvation. We cant see the inner workings of the heart that God is working on. We see fruits but it could those sometimes take time to manifest. The thief on the cross didn't have time but he came to believe and Jesus promised him eternal life.
