The Olivet Discourse

Matthew 24:1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”

This teachings about the end times are also found in Mark 13 as well as Luke 21.  Jesus is overlooking the temple mount, from the east, upon the mount of Olives.  I have been here and let me tell you, you can see it all here!  It is an amazing sight to see.  Herods beautifully engineered temple mount, with its massive stones, is truly amazing to behold.  Jesus' disciples are still in aw of the temple and this mount area after many years of seeing it.  It was under construction for 80 years.  Jesus however, proceeds to tell them that not one stone will left upon another, speaking of the temple itself!
This had to seem unreal that Jesus would say this, for it was Gods house, and Jesus is God.  How could He allow that?  These words seemed to be more like words coming from Satan than God?  Gods glory doesn't reside in houses made by man, no matter how glorious.  God is not really interested in relics or monuments as much as your hearts and lives!  I remember, while there, getting angry with the Muslims for stealing what belonged to the Jews!  When will they build their temple over that eye sore dome of the rock?  God I believe spoke clearly to me, "My priority is mens hearts not this plot of ground."  I then began to understand.  It has always been that way.  He told David and Solomon this.  They desired God to dwell in the temple, and He did, but make no mistake about it, a temple CANT contain Him.  One day soon, when the church is raptured to be with Jesus, God will once again turn His emphasis upon Israel, the antichrist will give the Jews their temple, but I don't see where God really desired it?  I will be as truthful as I possibly can on this, Gods Spirit lives in us and yet, being at the temple site was a very amazing feeling!  I think of all my brothers & sisters who made great sacrifice every year to come to this location to worship the living God, my God!  That accounts for something in my book.  Just think, the center of this world is Israel, is Jerusalem, specifically the temple!  Let that settle in you!  I'm so blessed & thankful to have experienced this for myself.  Again, a Christian doesn't need to physically be there but then as a Christian why wouldn't you want to at least?  I'm never going to be into my LORD as much as He is into me yet Im totally into Him!  I cant wait to return!
By the way, less than 40 years after Jesus stated this, Titus Vespasian in 70 ad and some drunken roman troops would set fire to the temple causing it to burn which in turn melted the gold.  The gold would pour through the cracks which was the reason Titus ordered every stone to be knocked down, to recover all the gold!  Prophecy fulfilled!

Every word Jesus spoke is true, and I love tracing through history and current events which prove clearly that He is our Savior. My heart has already known that as fact, but my intellect is excited. His return is near. Maranatha, Lord Jesus!
