If I don't listen, Someone Will

1 Samuel 3:11 Then the Lord said to Samuel: “Behold, I will do something in Israel at which both ears of everyone who hears it will tingle. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his sons made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them. 14 And therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.”

This is amazing to me yet scary.  Scary if I, like Eli, refuse to hear and obey what God is saying to me.  If I fail to respond, God will move His will forward with or without me.  God doesn't need me at all.  In fact, I probably create a damage control department in heaven, but He desires me to fellowship with Him.  God doesnt go around us.
The great thing I get from this, well, in Gods rich mercy and grace, speaks to someone who will.  In this case Samuel.  Samuel"s shoes are better than Eli's here.  Don't lose sight of this fact, God spoke to both men!  One listened and obeyed and one did not.  How is your listening today?  I must refine my listening skills.  I desire to hear His voice and obey Him.
