Path to Joy
1 John 1:4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
Jesus wants us to have joyful, fulfilled lives. John writes this 1st letter for the church to walk in this joy of Jesus. Joy is (Jesus - Others - Yourself) in that order. A selfish life will never produce Joy. An others focused life wont either. But with Jesus before our eyes, we will walk as He does blessing others and thus living a life blessed ourselves. Booker T Washington once said, "If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." The gospel of Christ has changed everything. I no longer live a selfish life, though the flesh always tries to rise again. I belong to Jesus and since I make that statement, my life is not my own. My old man is dead and gone 28 yrs ago. I've been bought by the blood of Jesus. My faculties are Jesus' now. I want to go where He goes, say what He says, do what He does. A joyful life is a Jesus centered life.
