Luke (93 AD)

Luke was not one of Jesus' 12 disciples, yet he was every much a disciple as any.  He would be spoken of in Acts as well as the epistles.  He joined Paul on his missionary journey.  Not only was Luke needed by Paul as a spiritual brother but a doctor, for lukes occupation, at least originally, was a doctor.  Paul calls him the "beloved physician", no doubt due to Pauls physical issues as well as his many unhappy spectators that would often beat him, stone him, violently mistreat Paul.  Luke was the official historian of the early church, Josephus was the Jewish historian.  Luke was an assistant & a careful keeper of the gospel record.
Luke is the recorder of the gospel that bears his name as well as most likely the book of Acts.  He would have had full access to most, if not all, of the original apostles.  But what is very interesting to discover is his careful account of the gospel of Jesus Christ  most likely had Jesus' mother Mary as the eye witness, at least for the specific account of the birth of Jesus and all that encompassed that event.  Nobody knew more than Mary!  How special the idea that Jesus' very own mom, had given an investment to us now when women were lessened to nothing in society.  I cant prove this about Mary but I cant disprove it either and it just makes common sense.
Luke lived a longer life than most since he wasn't a public speaker but the enemy never misses an opportunity to kill, steal, and destroy.  Luke would hang for his crimes of being a Christian in the region of Greece.  Luke was engaged in the fight of faith.
