Jan Hus (1415)

Jan Hus was from modern day Czech Republic. It was his mother who prompted him into the priesthood but he would take full responsibility for what came next. I will begin at his death because his death spoke volumes about what Hus stood for.  His soul was committed by the catholic church to the devil! They sought to steal his hope as the church said, "we take from you the cup of redemption." Hus' response, "I trust in the Lord God Almighty...that He will not take away from me the cup of His redemption, but I firmly hope to drink from it today in His kingdom." AMEN! Hus was tied to a stake and set ablaze. He sang, Jesus, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me.
See, it was the communion cup during this moment in history that divided the church!  John Wycliffe' teachings on communion sent ripples through the world, in this case, through the university of Prague, where Hus received his Masters in theology.  The state catholic church believed the cup actually turns into Jesus' literal blood when taken!  Hus, as well as all sane Christians, believe it was only symbolic, however very important!  It was this cup of communion that would not only have Hus murdered, but thousands of solid Christians as well. This was the issue of the day!
Hus was excommunicated 4 times by the catholic church! "Do not believe that I have taught anything but the truth.  I have taught no error. The truths I have taught I will seal with my blood." Some other charges against Hus: dangerous heretic, unworthy to be named a Christian, wicked man, teacher of a fourth person in the Godhead (himself) all by which he was forbidden to reply! This is the Christian I would be honored to emulate.  I believe I would but the only way to stand for Christ here is to commune with Him now! Partake of all of Christ now!
