Queen Lady Jane Grey (1554)

Most often, political office & Christianity doesn't mix well.  This is certainly the case for Jane.  Her father King Edward had become sick & passed away.  Jane was declared the successor to the throne though she did not want it.  She believed Mary Tudor (bloody Mary) was next in line.  Jane never sought the crown but after prayed for guidance, she opened up to it. "Give me such Spirit & grace that I may govern to Your glory & service, and to the advantage of the realm."  Sounds amazing to me!  Well, Mary took her as a threat and would took the throne with the help of public persuasion.  She was given an ultimatum to convert to Catholicism or die.  What would you do?  These simple stands meant life or death folks!  Jane died a Martyr for her precious faith.  Politics took her life in which she really wanted nothing to do with.  I've witnessed politics slay many Christians.  I've witnessed what divisions it causes in Christ' body.  Having a biblical worldview vs political view is sometimes very difficult to discern at times.  Everything the political realm stands upon isn't always politics.  Catholicism' quest for power over people has always been wicked.  That's not to say solid Christians aren't to possess political offices, for then our own great nation would never have happened.  Jane was a solid Christian that just happened to be queen for a few days.  She was faithful to both offices but is now with Jesus.
