Challenging Times
Joshua 1:1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates,
Immediately after Moses death, God calls Joshua to step up. The season of grief and wonder is over. Leaders lead! Leaders don't get the luxury of extended periods of time to get a game plan together. Often, the circumstance demands a quick decision to be made. This is why, as a man of God, one must have already been spending time in Gods presence. Already sought vision and guidance. Not that anyone can plan out events only known to God, but that's the whole point, God is never caught off guard. Joshua was a servant of the LORD and spent plenty of hours seeking the LORD. All Spirit led preparation to execute Gods plan here and now. I have experienced this in like manner. Before taking up the office of senior Pastor at CGC, there was a three year transfer of leadership in place. Much prayer and guidance was committed to the change. To my surprise, go time was a year sooner! No worries, due to Gods gracious leading long before, we made the transition hitting the road running. It was as though God knew in advance. Same here, Its never easy to lose a Moses but Joshua was the one God always called to take them into the promise land. As long as Moses was in the picture, Joshua may have never been able to grow into the man God made him. Oh, Israel never did possess all the land God gave them here. That will be for another leader one day soon, Jesus!
