Jesus Came to Free the Captive
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to the captives,And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Where the Spirit of the LORD is there is freedom. God has freed us to live for Him. I was in captivity to sin and death before Jesus. Some don't see themselves as in bondage. The religious leaders certainly questioned their bondage as Jesus spoke about them. Oh the freedom my LORD has given me. Living for Him isn't about what I cant do, as a negative sense, but what Im free to do. We celebrate our nations freedom today but the reason we can is because of those who walked and lived Christ' freedom in their own lives even if it meant laying down their lives. In every place Christ goes and is accepted, freedom is a characteristic. It is God who has allowed us such freedom in our nation and without Him, we wont have a free nation. Let our praise ring out to our LORD and freedom reign in our land.
