Never Give Up when God Speaks
Jesus had been talking to the multitudes around lake Galilee when He gets into Peters boat. Now Peter and gang has been casting nets all night, catching nothing of real measure.
Luke 5:4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
Honestly, Peter already did this hours before. Now Jesus wants them to do it again? I know what I would be thinking. But to Peters credit, he gets his word in to Jesus then obeys. This was before Jesus called him to be His disciple by the way. Peter knew something was different about Jesus. How about you?
Luke 5:6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
When God speaks, its go time! God never gives an idle word. It makes no difference how many years you have sowed into that person or cast Gods word into them only to face rejection. All that matters is now! Never have a bitter heart toward Gods word or what He is going to do on His time table. Dont grow weary of well doing for you will reap if you dont lose heart. My has that been my verse for many years. Im asking for and longing for the day when my nets are so full they appear to be breaking.
When God does the work, He is glorified and we know it!
Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!”
Anytime we are made aware of His presence, our sinfulness is revealed and brokenness is a byproduct. Nobody will stand in His presence. Jesus' exhortation to you Christian who seeks to win the lost to Christ, families to Christ, keep dropping those nets.
