Martin Luther (1546 ad)
We now are coming well out of the dark ages of the church and into the Reformation. The days of renaissance. Nobody played a bigger hand than Martin Luther, a German monk who later became a theologian and the spear head to the Protestant movement. Simply put, this was the point when the Catholic church split. There was to much damage done by biblical church practices that the catholic church to this day will not separate from. Simply put, is Gods word the full and final authority or not? Martin Luther wasnt trying to become a revolutionary figure, who in their proper mind would, but his love for Gods word, even over church practice, sprung him to October 31, 1517, as he nailed his 95 grievances with the Catholic church to the Wittenburg church door. All those false teachings through the mid-evil years that carried over. Im surprised thats all he found frankly! Believe me, there are far more unbiblical teachings by the church that he did not cover! Luther would become a scholar & activist who was labeled a heretic. His basic belief that salvation is not of works but purely grace landed him in hot water. He translated the bible into German using what would be the most famous event outside of Jesus', the Wittenburg Press. The Catholic church could never stop the bible after this. He would be excommunicated after burning his letter being called a heretic. He was summoned to court and made the famous defense, "Here I Stand" or in laymen terms, you know where I am, I'm not hiding! He was labeled a rebel and his writings were contraband. He was insulated somewhat from death due to his strong relationships with people in high places. He fought the good fight very courageously and never compromised his faith. The church certainly has benefited from guys like him. He would die of a stroke. Thank God for all who stand up for Gods word and reject mens traditions.

I am so thankful for those who not only saw the errors, but declared them publicly paving the way for access to the Word of God and the absolute authority of the Word. Opening eyes, hearts and minds to the truths of Scripture instead of doctrines and organizations of man.
