Perpetua, Felicity, & Blandina (203 AD)

I'm honored & blessed to highlight these 3 courageous women of faith today.  All three with different backgrounds but united because of Jesus Christ as sisters.  Perpetua came from a wealthy family, her father a pagan, her mother & siblings Christians.  She gave it all up for Christ.  Felicity & Blandina were enslaved by Rome but freed by Jesus! Felicity and Blandina both were pregnant and according to Roman law, could not be executed until after they birthed their children, something we in our day dont even hold up to as moral.  Perpetua was numerously encouraged to deny Christ and give a simple sacrifice to the Caesar.  She refused her fathers & roman advice.  What would you do in her sandals?
All three clung together in their heavenly hope to come. Perpetua pleaded to put her hair up because undone hair was a sign of mourning, but this day of death was a day of great victory & joy!  Wow, what a perspective she had. The bull went to attack them but for some strange reason stopped.  The gladiators were sent to finish the job but when they came to Perpetua, hesitated, she herself helped guide the sword into her body.  Such courage!  Felicity died immediately.  Blandina was drug to a post and exposed to wild animals, which was tamed by the LORD, and did not attack her.  The Romans tortured her, cast her in a net, and let a bull trample her. All three bodies remained unburied and guarded.
Such courage made a huge impression on the Romans. They stood together & died together. Several spectators converted to Christianity as a result of them including the governor of Rome.  What a blessing to uncover these three amazing ladies faith in Christ.
