The Scillium Six (180 A D)

Today, I honor six Christians, who united as one, and forfeited their lives for Jesus. I will list their names once here but will continue with the spokesman.  Speratus, Nartalus, Cittimus, Donata, Vestia, & Secunda.  They were from the region of North Africa in the city of Carthage. They were brought before the Roman proconsul Saturninus for their simple confession that Jesus alone is their LORD. Saturninus was on many occasions seeking to give them time, think it over, confess caesar as lord.  On every occasion, as one voice, they rejected this option and declared "I am a Christian." "There is no need for deliberation in so straightforward an issue." The Roman sentenced them to death by sword.
Speratus then said, "We thank God. Today we are martyrs in heaven, thanks to God."
They did not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul.  Having confessed Christ before men, they were confessed by Him before His Father in heaven. Matt 10:28
