A mans man

1 Samuel 9:1  There was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power. 2 And he had a choice and handsome son whose name was Saul. There was not a more handsome person than he among the children of Israel. From his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people.

Intro to Saul, the 1st king of Israel.  The man that men would choose over the LORD.  They had asked for a king like the heathen nations.  They rejected the LORD.  Personally, I would never want to fill that void of a people who rejected God for me.  It doesn't sound like a winning formula.  Saul was a manly man.  He had the look of a king. He was from a wealthy family with power.  He was the creme of the crop in mens eyes.  Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart.  When looking for a car, its so easy to settle for the 1st one that looks shiny, appears nice, turns your head.  But the real test of a cars worth is, HOW DOES IT RUN?  The heart of the engine is key.  The cosmetics can be fixed but it does no good for you if your pretty car is broken down on the highway while you wait in the heat for a ride.  The desire of the flesh and the desire for the Spirit are diametrically opposed to each other.  If you seek to satisfy the flesh you wont be satisfied at all.  Yet if you seek to walk by the Spirit, you will be completely satisfied.  Make sure what you chase after isn't the "Sauls" of this life but JESUS!

AMEN!?

nSame as marriage. You wanted and prayed to God to give a person a Godly partner in life, and after God blessed a person with a Godly wife, then he realized that she’s not as beautiful as somebody else’s wife. He’s not content of what God blessed him with. He lives in frustration, struggles, misery, despair, pain, and suffering. No peace because of what the flesh wants. Not focusing on the blessings that gives him. Not satisfied with what God gave him. Because the flesh wants the outside appearance. The flesh’s excitement for someone else’s dominates over him.

nFocus on Jesus! NOT THE FLESH! BE SATISFIED FOR THE GIFT OF GOD! Be thankful and praise him for his blessings. Then everything will come together: joy, peace, love, and blessings from the Lord.

n“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13

n“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.“ Matthew 6:33
