What Changed?

1 Sam 10:6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.

Samuel was declaring what was going to happen to Saul.  I want to talk about this verse some. When the Spirit of the LORD comes upon Saul, he turned into a different man.  Yes the gift of prophecy would be evidenced but the different man is fascinating.  This is still the case.  When Gods Spirit takes residence in us, we are changed!  The Spirit was a little more selective in the Old Testament times than now, but the principle rule has always been there.  Today, we ask for God to come into our lives, an honor that is.  He indwells the believer.  Yet we have another relationship with the Holy Spirit.  The Greek word epi means upon, experience.  The experience that Jesus told His disciples to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit.  They were already saved, indwelt with the Spirit, so what was this?  This is the daily experience of Gods filling us to overflow, the empowerment to be His bold witnesses.  It takes a week timid Christian and elevates them to be bold & courageous.  I am a new man because of the Spirit of God.  I do great godly service because of the Spirit.  The Spirit of God is the difference maker in my life.

Salvation itself changes us, because the spirit of the Lord dwells upon us when we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. God changes the heart of anyone who accepts Him and believe that he is the son of God who died for us.
