Lasting Fruit

2 John 1:4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of your children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

I can totally get John here.  What great joy to find out years later that your brothers or sisters are still walking solid with Christ.  We all are aware of those who have fallen away yet most choose to stay committed to Christ.  The fruit of this mother & grandmother remains.  As a father, there is no greater joy than our kids serve & follow after Christ and build day by day from that foundation.  I can rest easy when I know my kids are right with God.  I will reach as many as I can with the gospel, I will work hard for the kingdom.  But there will always be a deep passion to see those whom God has gifted me to raise for a short season chase after all God desires of them.  This is a special moment John spoke of. Walking in truth means being active in Gods word & obeying His word.  Now, I love to have this rejoicing but there is another aspect to this.  Are you a joy to the one who invested in you?  I want to be that as well.

It would give me great joy knowing my children are walking with in the truth. A sense of peace relating to them. However, only one of two children are on that path. So I have joy with one and sorrow with the other. I just wonder how much sorrow our Father has when so many of His children are lost.

Bob, I will be praying for your child who is not following the Lord, for the heart to turn and run to the Lord with joy and obedience.

I am trying hard every day and I’m holding fast to the truth of the gospel. I am still in the flesh and I am trying to avoid the people who deny aspects of the Christian faith, and I pray to God that he’ll guide me on this matter. I will continue to pray for my children and family. God’s will be done. I prayed and continue to pray for my children.
